Wow what a beautiful tribute that so well honors your time as a single woman, your complex emotional experience, and your marriage! 🤍 Grateful for how you hold space for what’s hard in the midst of what’s good, Amanda!
Yes! There is such a death to old self in getting married. Death to our relationships in the form we have always known them in. And at the same time, there is so much ahead—in those relationships, in our identity, even in our new interdependence. You expressed this so beautifully. Thanks for sharing and YAAAAY for your wedding!
Amanda, you write with such depth and wisdom, even in your quandaries. It’s as if you’ve lived life for 200 years. I thank God for your honesty, your ultimate trust in Him, and the way you bring insight and light to those things within us we didn’t even know existed or just had no language for. There’s so much to say but for now, a Big Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and marriage. May you thrive in this new life, and return to what you’ve “left behind” with greater intentionality and appreciation.
As one who is in awe of approaching 39 years of marriage, Soli Deo gloria indeed!
Thanks, Jacob. I'm not sure if I read the piece you're describing...I just read the one about grieving your cats. But it seems like we're resonating with similar ideas. I'd be curious to know why weddings remind you of funerals.

What a beautiful way to mark the endings and new beginnings of this week, and to honor all that your heart holds right now ❤️ Well done, friend!
Thank you!
Amanda - This is such a beautiful piece. I never thought of weddings in this way and yet, it all makes perfect sense, thanks to your amazing writing.
Wishing you and your fiance a lifetime of happiness and love. 🙏
Thanks, Chris. Grateful to have offered a new perspective to consider. And thank you for your well wishes!

Thank you for your kind words, Juliet! And congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!
I just posted last night about how weddings remind me of funerals! Grief and love are a circle. Thanks for writing
